Float

My inspiration was the picture you showed us of the guy with the cords around him floating like this. I'm not trying to tell a story, i was just trying to get a specific shot. The lighting and the stand were pretty hard to deal with since it was super sunny and our stand was broken. I moved him around and gave the stand to you to fix. My artist challenge was trying to be creative, lately im just not thinking at all. I don't think i overcame that in this project.
I didn't have an inspiration for this picture, i just told him to start posing and i started taking pictures. Again im not trying to tell a story. The fact that he was wearing a white shirt and we were outside in the sun didnt help at all and the camera kept going black when i tried to take a picture. I changed to setting on the camera to help with the black screen. My biggest challenge was that i didn't notice when he was standing on the chair that it would look just like he was standing when i took it away and not floating. Trying to put a shadow in it didn't help it just looked really weird so i left it the way it was.
My inspiration was to make it look like aliens were taking her. I guess my story was about the aliens. I didn't have any technical challenges with these pictures, unless trying to make her look like she was floating wile she was jumping is a challenge. I had trouble trying to figure out a way to make it look like she was floating and not jumping, this one worked okay.

Poses

This picture was taken by the tree next to the hut with the vending machines. The problems i had was figuring out where to take pictures and how to pose the person. I think this image is the best because when i took it he was laughing so he decided to hide his face and it made me laugh too. I think the picture would a lot better if the sticker was off of the front.
This picture was taken by the bathrooms when you walk out the building. The problem i had was trying to get her to do something with the guitar so i just told her to play it and i started taking pictures. I think this picture is the best because you can tell she is actually playing the guitar and she looks really focused. The lighting on the top being taken away could have really made this picture look better.
This picture was taken right next to the q-hut. The problem i had was finding a place for her to sit and making her laugh. This image is the best because she was actually smiling and its pretty clear. Changing the background could definitely make this picture better.
This picture was taken in front of the gym.The lighting was a big problem for this picture i moved him from under the tree and used the silver side of the reflector. This image is the best because its really colorful and its clear. The people in the background being removed would make it a lot better.
This picture was taken at the tree in front of the gym. The problem i had was making her not feel awkward she would just stand there so i had to act like an idiot like usual to make her laugh or move. I like this one because of the light and because she looks like shes done with me.The way her arm is behind her could be moved to make the picture better.
This picture was taken in front of the gym.The problem i always have is finding a good background, this wasn't so great. This one is good because he looks mad and like hes about to get in a fight. The background could be a lot better.
This picture was by the gym (again) in the grass. The problem i had was finding ways for him to lean against a tree. I like this picture because he is actually hugging the tree and not just standing. The tape being gone could make this picture better.
This picture was taken in front of the gym (you can see the door back there). The problem i had again was the standing awkward and not emotion. I like this on though because the color pops. The gym behind her could definitely be gone and the picture would be a lot better.
This picture was in the tree be the gym. I didn't know what to do for wild card so she just climbed in the tree. I like this one because shes happy and it looks like shes riding a horse. The lighting on her face could be better.
This picture was next to the tree by the gym. The same problem here on not knowing what to do for wildcard so he just laid on the ground. I like this picture because hes being funny and he didn't even know i was taking the picture. The brightness in the background could have been better.

The most challenging thing about this assignment was lighting and trying to get the pictures to look real. I now know how to actually use a camera and rules of photography like rule of thirds, and how much light matters. I want to learn how to do the thing with the light where it looks like writing, i don't know what its called, light writing?

Vermeer Photos

1) The hardest thing about shooting portraits is getting the person to not feel awkward. I told them what to do and they mostly just sat there, i even talked, but nothing.

2)The challenge of being the model is when they don't tell you what to do. So i just sat there and they started taking pictures and the wind was in my eyes and it was not great.

3)A good model should be able to listen and not be scared to show emotion. A good photographer needs to be able to say what they want and not make you feel awkward.

Blog Post #14: PhotoAnalysis: Portraits

In this picture there is a woman in what looks like a room. Her eyes are blue and green and the have the light in them, her hair is brown and on the ends the light makes it glow. She smirking and her smile goes up more on the left side (her right side). Her cheeks are darker and her face gets bright around the nose. She could be looking at someone she likes, or she could be laughing at someone because she knows they are lying, she could have an evil plan for someone. When i look at this i wonder where she is and why is she there.
In this picture there is a girl on the street looking straight at the camera. She looks curious more than anything. The background looks like an alley way, Her eyes are blue, she looks really young and tiny, her hair is brown and thin. Maybe she wants to know who the person looking down at her is, or maybe she does know and she just listening to what they are saying, or maybe shes slightly scared. What i want to know is who is she looking at and why is she there.
In this picture there is an old woman looking off to the side. She looks like shes talking to someone in the direction. You can tell shes really old and she seems happy, you can really see the wrinkles, and the gray in her hair. I want to know who she is talking  to in this picture.
Theres a really cute dog laying in grass and on a rock looking up at the camera. He (or she) seems really mellow and comfortable. The background starts to blur a little in the corners, the dogs hair is brown and white and there's a cute little diamond shape on its head. Maybe he is looking at his owner or a squirrel. I want to know where this picture was taken.

In this picture there is a woman moving around with a sheet on her. It has no color really except for a little bit of brown on the bottom. Maybe shes dancing around or she could be running away. I want to know if its Photoshopped because it looks like it is.

Blog Post #13: MIDTERM Portfolio

pic#1:This photo is rule of thirds. Its the best because its actually rule of thirds and its a pretty clear picture. The clarity could be a bit better
pic#2:This is fill the frame. This is the best because the whole frame is filled, there is a cool pattern, and its clear. I like this picture the way it is.
pic#3:This is lines. I think its a good picture because there are a lot of lines. I would have probably made it less bright.
pic#4:This is angles. This is the best because you can really see the picture was taken at an angle. I would of probably used lines in the picture.
pic#5:This one would be patterns. You can see the lines on the shorts going one way and the little flowers going another way. I like this photo the way it is.
pic#6:This one is framing. Its good because there is a lot in the frame and at the end you can see the foot being framed. I would make this picture clearer.
pic#7:This one is shutter speed. You can clearly see the two people and the background is blurred. I would have made it much more clear.
pic#8:This one would be panning. The cart is clear and the background is blurred. I really like this picture for the first time doing it.
pic#9:This picture is depth of field. I really love this picture, it just gives a cool feel, and the background is blurred. I would make the background more blurry though.
pic#10: This is the wildcard. This is a picture of my fat man baby oso bear. Whenever i get the chance to show him i do, so here you go :)

What has been the biggest challenge for you in this class? Have you been able to overcome it? Is there something that Mr. Pedersen can do to help you with this?
The biggest challenge for me has been understanding the camera. I just have to study with it more, but I've gotten better. Mr.Pedersen is already helping.

What your biggest success in this class? Why does this stand out to you. Will this help you in the second semester? (If so, how? If not, why?)
My biggest success is learning that there is a lot more to taking a picture than i thought and learning how to take pictures. It stands out because its a whole new world. It will because i could put everything i have learned to good use.

What are you most interested in learning next? Why?
Editing more. That way i can make any picture look good and use the Photoshop i have at home.

Describe one thing that Mr. Pedersen can do to improve your experience in this class.
Food, everyone loves food. That and videos without weird super excited old guys.

Describe one thing that YOU can do to improve your experience in this class.
Focus more and try harder to memorize all the stuff on the camera.

DOF Photo Corrected

I darkened the photo and made it more crisp. I think the adjustments help a lot because the picture was way too bright. I think these types of things could help my photos a lot. I would like to fix the brightness on her face.

I made the photo darker and more clear. I think it help but i don't like the darkness under her eyes. I would like to be able to balance the brightness and darkness on her face.

On this picture i just made it look less washed out. It made the jeans more blue and you can see the patterns better. I like this photo the way it is.

In this picture i made it more clear. It made the green brighter in the jacket and the grass. I wouldn't fix anything in this photo.

On this picture I made it clearer and much brighter. It really brought out the color in the leaves. If i had to change something i would make it look more natural and less neon, but i love it.

On this i made it clearer and brighter. I really like how it looks less cloudy. I would not fix this photo.

What is shallow depth of field vs. large depth of field?
Shallow depth of field is when the background is blurry and there is only one thing in focus. Large is when everything is in focus.
How you decide when to use TV mode vs. AV mode?
TV is when you need to do stop motion AV is when you need to adjust the light.
The hardest part of this assignment was... (Be specific and detailed)
The hardest part was getting thins to blur the way you wanted them to. If i wanted to take a picture of a tree the background would be in focus and not the tree and i would have to try again.
